- Supplies needed
- wood, hinge, screws, stencil, white hardboard supplies
- Details:
The three signs were sized to use up one sheet of 1/2-inch plywood, which cost about $36. Then there were six hinges at about $3/pair. Pre-existing supplies: the sandpaper and primer, as with the saws and other tools to cut and sand the plywood and install the hinges. Paint (exterior grade latex) at the ReStore for about $2. The commercial stencil was somewhere around $25-$30 (came from that shop on Iowa across from the Honda dealer). The two cans of spray paint for the lettering were about $10? The 1/8-inch white hardboard (for writing the date and time) was about $10, and the fastening hardware (screws and casing) for that was minimal.
So the total was about $100, not counting the false starts at making several stencils by hand. (Notes from Tim Hyatt)
